Rose Tips

1. Washington Post feature, “The Anatomy of a Burglary,” uncovered interesting details about the typical American burglary: Burglars prefer to spend no more than 60 seconds breaking into a home; most burglaries occur between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and last eight to 10 minutes.

 

Tip:  Roses, bougainvillea, barberries, or any prickly specimen ought to deter burglary break-ins. Yuccas and other large succulents are a lower-maintenance option.  Plant thorny bushes beneath your windows for additional safety.

 

2. Roses need minim of 6 hours of sun, a water soaking 2 to 3 times a week and fertile.

 

3.Roses should always be cut on the branches at a 45-degree angle under all circumstances, whether pruning, deadheading, or cutting for a bouquet.

 

4. Rose are called “Queen of the Flowers.”
